Not home? No problem. Amazon begins in-home delivery service for Prime members

Amazon launched Amazon Key, a new service for Prime members aimed at making deliveries more convenient. The service came to Miami and 36 other U.S. metro areas on Wednesday.

Once a Prime member selects “in-home delivery,” Amazon Key allows orders to be delivered inside customers’ homes without the customer being there. Using the Amazon Key app, customers can track the delivery, watch it or review a video of the delivery after it is complete.

Convenience doesn’t come cheap. While there is no extra charge for the in-home delivery, Prime members must first purchase the Amazon Key In-Home Kit, which includes the Amazon Cloud Cam and a compatible smart lock. Amazon Key In-Home Kit starts at $249.99.
