Sixt car rental promises 300 jobs in new Lauderdale headquarter
Sixt, a car rental company that made its name in Europe, will establish its North American headquarters in Fort Lauderdale and create 300 jobs, Gov. Rick Scott announced this week.
Sixt chose Fort Lauderdale over other potential sites in Georgia, Texas and California, according to the Governor’s office.
Sebastian Birkel, Sixt North America co-president, said Florida “clearly came out on top” in Sixt’s search for a new U.S. headquarters site. Sixt cited Fort Lauderdale’s diverse workforce, tourism market, proximity to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport as strategic reasons for headquarters location.
