AT&T expands LTE coverage in Broward

A new AT&T cell site in Broward County is expanding LTE coverage in Pembroke Pines. The new site near Pines Boulevard and I-75 is the fifth cell site AT&T has activated this year. The company has also turned up new cell sites in North Miami Beach, South Beach and Vero Beach since January.

In 2014, AT&T activated 37 LTE cell sites, including 16 in Miami-Dade, 10 in Broward and 10 in Palm Beach County – and added extra capacity to nearly 500 LTE sites from the Florida Keys to Vero Beach. Adding more capacity to a cell site makes it possible for the site to accommodate more traffic, which helps improve the performance of mobile Internet data and voice connectivity for customers.

AT&T 4G LTE, the latest generation of wireless network technology providing mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G, launched in South Florida in July 2012. The AT&T 4G LTE network now covers more than 300 million people nationwide.

AT&T also announced Wednesday that Miami is among 100 cities where AT&T’s Network on Demand service is now available. With Network on Demand, businesses can easily order more ports, add or change services, scale bandwidth and manage their network in near real time and all online, the company said.
