A machine that purifies water probably shouldn’t double as a fire hazard. So, Nestlé Waters has recalled 12,300 of its AccuPure floor standing filtration dispensers.

The units’ tendency to overheat can turn them from water dispensers to fire dispensers. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice states there have been seven reports of units smoking or catching fire among the 15 reports of overheating.

Businesses leased or bought the AccuPure floor standing dispensers from Nestlé Waters from April 2011 through this past April. Those with model numbers HB215-3G or HW215-3G should unplug the appliances immediately. Nestlé Waters says it told customers to do that in early May by phone and letter. Now, they’re in the process of scheduling replacements.

Those wishing to be proactive can call Nestlé Waters at 844-895-9691 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern time, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time Saturdays or go to the website.
