One of Miami’s most terrifying traditions is back, and we have details
Miami doesn’t really do fall.
You won’t sense a crispness in the air or see even one leaf on the ground, but Halloween is definitely on the horizon. Besides a pumpkin latte at Starbucks and bulk candy at CVS, there’s another telltale sign.
House of Horror Haunted Carnival is back at Miami International Mall, starting Thursday.
Organizers promise this year’s edition will be absolutely terrifying, but in a good way.
“Year after year, the event maintains its standing as South Florida’s true largest Halloween experience, spanning over 500,000 square feet,” says Tony Albelo, President of Loud And Live. “Every year we push ourselves further, and 2025 is our most ambitious season yet. From the scale of the sets to the detail in the costumes and performances, our team has built an experience that surrounds you at every turn.”
Set appropriately inside the creepy, abandoned Sears department store, the carnival includes a bunch of ways to get your kicks, giggles and jump scares.
In addition to stomach-churning rides like the Scarecoaster, guests will be plunged into “immersive nightmares,” read foreboding promotional materials.
Among the attractions: Howie’s 3D Playground, a funhouse full of deranged clowns; Base 13: Undead Frontier, a post-apocalyptic ghost town “crawling with cowboys and the cursed”; and Fear in the “Dedlands,” a freaky farm where scarecrows and jack-o’-lanterns come alive.
Spiking your blood pressure and fearing for your life aren’t your idea of fun? Meander around the retail center and check out the 20-plus food and beverage options, from nostalgic carnie favorites to pours from Cervecería La Tropical, the official beer partner. Hint: You may need the alcohol.
