Things To Do

Watch free movies outside on Biscayne Bay every month at Miami’s downtown art museum

As the weather shifts from muggy to bearable — at least, we hope it does — the Pérez Art Museum Miami is introducing a monthly floating movie series.

Fortunately, guests won’t be the ones splashing around in the bay. You can sit on the steps, the seawall or bring a blanket and a lawn chair to watch a 60-foot floating screen, which will anchor off the museum’s back stairs.

The movies are free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, the first film will be Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical “In the Heights,” at which singing along and dancing are encouraged (just don’t fall into the bay).

The schedule is as follows:

6 p.m. Oct. 6: “In the Heights”

6 p.m. Nov. 3: “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am”

6 p.m. Dec. 12: “The Holiday” (just in time for Christmas)
