Poll: Which one of these four South Florida fairs are you going to this weekend?
Suddenly November is the hottest month of the year. That’s because several big events that had either been shut down due to COVID or shut down for other reasons reemerged just in time to make 2021 seem a little more like 2019.
Here are the events that are happening this weekend so you can decide where you belong.

The Youth Fair
Do not adjust your calendar. Yes, it’s November. And yes — the Miami-Dade Youth Fair is opening this week. Normally, the annual event is a spring fling, scheduled during spring break for Miami-Dade Public Schools. But the COVID-19 pandemic, which canceled the fair in 2020 mere hours from its opening date, pushed the usual March opening until now. This means you don’t have to wait long to ride heart-stopping rides including the Zipper, the Mega Drop and the Ring of Fire, plus plenty of rides for kids.
Miami Book Fair Street Festival
OK, so there won’t be a ton of fried food, rides or pig races, but the Miami Book Fair’s street festival is a chance to peruse different book vendors, catch live performances, engage in activities with your kids and — of course — see some author discussing their latest work. If you are not in the mood for the Pirate Ship or an elephant ear, this is where you should be this weekend.
Santa’s Enchanted Forest
Don’t say this isn’t a fair. Santa’s is basically the Youth Fair but with plastic reindeer and a billion lights. You’ve got fried food, the Ferris wheel, rides that spin you in a circle till you want to puke and crowds of roving teenagers looking for places to make out. Bonus: You can take a picture with Santa.
Broward County Fair
Why would you go to a county fair in Broward? We do not have the answer to that question. But if you happen to be adventuring to the 954 this weekend, this fair has everything you would expect — rides, games, fried food plus entertainment including aquatic acrobats, dance shows, hypnotists, something called the Banana Derby that involves monkeys riding dogs and something else called Goat Island.
