Show some R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Jennifer Hudson is the star of this fundraiser in Miami
Busy, busy.
Jennifer Hudson will manage to squeeze in a trip to South Florida this weekend in between all the other stuff she has going on.
She’ll be performing at the Country Music Association awards Wednesday night, straight off coming back from Miami. The Oscar, Emmy and Grammy winner is the headliner for the sold out 26th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball on Saturday night.
The “Respect” star will perform a private concert at the fundraiser, whose theme is “Galactica,” inspired by pop culture and vintage sci-fi films, so we fully expect a red carpet full of glitter and Spandex.
The “American Idol” alum also may manage to squeeze in an Aretha Franklin song or two in the set list. The Chicago native, 40, is currently starring as the late, great Queen of Soul in the biopic, “Respect.” Hudson was handpicked by Franklin before her death in 2018 to play the role.
“I feel like she saw far more than what I saw,” Hudson told Variety in August of why she thought the music icon chose her. “It was things that I discovered throughout the film that at least I told myself, ‘This must be the reason.’”
Since the ball is sold out, we hope Hudson sticks around for the after-hours party featuring Ja Rule and a fashion show. But we wouldn’t blame her if she was a little tired.
