Things To Do

Gumdrop unicorns and a Pitbull candy portrait await you at this Aventura attraction

In the mood for perfect selfies? No need to answer that.

Miami Sweet, which opens Friday on the third level of Aventura Mall next to the Treats Food Hall, is 12 rooms of colorful, Instagram-friendly fun.

“This is my love letter to Miami,” said founder Jackie Sorkin, who was on site Thursday from L.A. “It’s a vibe in the 305!”

The immersive, 20,000 square foot plus experience begins by entering a room in which you get blasted by confetti by a jovial group of masked dancers in sparkly leotards. Shake it off (literally) and enjoy the ride to come.

Rooms have different themes, most of them on the tropical side. You can swing on licorice vines through a “jungle,” wend your way through a Versace-themed pop-art gallery, sit atop an alligator, leap into a giant pit filled with plush pineapples and hang out by a lifeguard stand that reads “Don’t Be A Salty Beach.”

Sorkin was giddy about bringing her selfie playground back to locals (her last go-around, Candytopia, launched in November 2019).

“It’s been dark out there for almost two years now,” said the onetime star of TLC’s “Candy Queen” who lost her mother in law to COVID. “It was time for me to create something that stands as a reminder that life is beautiful and nothing can steal our joy.”

Miami Sweet runs through February 2022.
