Watch a film as you float in a kayak at this paddle-in movie theater in South Florida
As COVID drags on into fall, drive-in movies aren’t going away. Yay!
This is a good thing for people who like to sit in their cars and watch classics with sound piped in through their radios.
But for athletic types who prefer activities of a non-sedentary nature, this event might be of interest.
Oleta River Outdoor Center at Oleta River State Park is hosting its own take on a drive-in Sept 18, with a “Paddle In Movie Theater.”
You’ll begin this interactive event at 8 p.m. with a roughly half hour guided kayak tour through the mangroves and then anchor your kayak to watch the animated classic from your watercraft. “Finding Nemo,” as part of its Movies on the Water series, will start at 9 p.m.
As per social distancing and safety guidelines related to the ongoing pandemic, tours are limited to groups of 10 people. Masks must be worn at all times, of course.
Details: 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Oleta River State Park, 786-274-7945; info@oletariveroutdoors.com; RSVP at FareHarbor.com; $15 plus park entry fee $2-$6.
