Things To Do

There’s a new drive-in theater in Wynwood. We don’t even care what movies are playing

Yasssssss, another drive-in movie theater has popped up in these uncertain times and we are here for it.

In Wynwood.

Carpool Cinema is a weekend event open Thursday through Sunday, starting at 7 p.m. The “theater” located in a parking lot at 2418 N. Miami Avenue, is showing films on the older side (think 1980s classics like “Goonies” and “Terminator”) but we are so hard up for entertainment, this old timey stuff is gold.

If you’ve been to a drive-in movie before, you know the deal. The audio comes in through your FM radio. Since it’s first come, first served, best arrive early (6:45) to assure you get closer to the screen; larger cars like SUVs and trucks will be directed toward the back to avoid blocking the view for others.

Thanks to COVID-19, guests must stay in their vehicles at all times during the movie except to use the restroom, located in the back. Wear a mask, natch.

Food delivery is available from nearby restaurants such as Backdoor Monkey and La Tiendita; you order from your phone and the chow is brought to your car.

Just relax and stay put, the venue warns.

“Basically the ground is lava,” says the website (jokingly).

Details: Carpool Cinema Wynwood, 2418 N. Miami Ave., Miami; 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. Tickets, $45 per car at https://carpoolcinemawynwood.com, 305-396-4915, Info@carpoolcinemawynwood.com
