Miami Dolphins can’t play yet, so Hard Rock stadium is opening a drive-in theater

Despite the fact that you are literally dying to see Tua Tagovailoa throw a pass wearing the aqua and orange, the Miami Dolphins can’t play football to entertain you right now.

So instead, they’re inviting you to the movies.

Coming soon to Hard Rock Stadium are The Outdoor Theaters, two new ways to watch films in a socially distanced setting. The Hard Rock will now be home to an open-air theater and a drive-in theater. Both will show classic movies and what it calls classic Miami Dolphins content. We can only hope this means Dan Marino’s Fake Spike Clock Play against the New York Jets will play on repeat at some point, because we will happily pay to watch that over and over.

Also: not showing “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective” would truly be a missed opportunity.

The drive-in events will be inside the stadium and will accommodate up to 230 cars. The open-air theater is a more intimate viewing experience on the Hard Rock’s south plaza. Restrooms will be open, and you can order food and drinks through an online ordering and payment system and have them delivered.

The venues can also be used for commencement ceremonies and other events.

“We’ve spent several weeks planning this to be able to provide people with a safe option to go out and enjoy movies, classic Dolphins content, concerts, and celebrate 2020 graduates,” said Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium Vice Chairman and CEO Tom Garfinkel in a press release. “It’s a fundamental human need to physically experience and celebrate events and experiences together, and we’re trying to provide options for everyone where they can be safely socially distant and socially present at the same time.”
