Vizcaya in Miami reopened its gardens. Now the Main House and photo sessions return

Updated to include reopening of museum.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is reopening, but don’t put away your masks just yet.

After shutting down due to the coronavirus pandemic, the National Historic Landmark welcomed visitors to its gardens on May 10 as part of the Miami-Dade County emergency order that permits the opening of county parks, marinas and golf courses.

The 10-acre outdoor gardens will be open and as of June 4 some areas of the Main House will be open. On June 6, photo permits and photography sessions will return.

All guests and staff are required to wear face coverings inside the Main House and must keep six feet from other visitors and staff. Masks are recommended for use in the gardens. Some narrow garden paths will become one-way for foot traffic, so follow signs. Restrooms will be open, and the staff will regularly clean all frequent-touch surfaces.

No walkup visitors are allowed; all tickets must be purchased online, and guests must bring proof of purchase with them to enter. Vizcaya has cut ticket prices for adults.

Vizcaya’s opening follows the reopening of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, which reopened May 6 with limited hours for members. Vizcaya also offers a wide range of online activities and experiences, from virtual tours to downloadable Zoom backgrounds.
