Things To Do

Bitter? Single? Here are some Valentine’s Day deals for Miami’s angry exes

If your Valentine’s Day plans involve deleting your ex’s pictures from Facebook and Instagram, stop. Those shreddable pictures are your ticket in to a few deals around Miami, except Burger King.

The Miami-based fast food company’s “Shred Your Ex” for a Whopper special is only at participating restaurants in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston, according to a media advisory.

But, that’s OK, you don’t need the King to have fun.

Whether you’re trying to host an Anti-Valentine party, nursing a broken heart or celebrating the single life, here are five deals singles can take advantage of this weekend:

Hit your ex with a bowling ball at Kings Dining and Entertainment

The bowling alley in CityPlace Doral is inviting singles to pick up a bowling pin and scribble an angsty message to your ex on it. A worker will then place the pin in your bowling lane so you and your friends can strike it out all night.

The $10 promo is valid Thursday and Friday and includes your keepsake bowling pin, a Bumble code so you can “swipe on with your life” and a Stella that comes in one of those pretty chalices.

Fair warning: Kings is also hosting a Valentine’s Day Date Night special so expect to find couples playing too.

If you want to make a reservation for either event, visit kings-de.com/miami-doral/promotions.

Shred your ex for free wings at Hooters

Hooters says it will give you 10 free boneless wings if you bring a photo of your ex to shred on Valentines Day at one of its participating locations across the country.

But beware: you need to buy 10 wings first before you can get your freebie.

If you don’t have a physical photo to shred, you can shred, burn or bury a digital photo of your ex at Hooters.com/ShredYourEx to receive a digital coupon for the deal.

The website will also let you throw a dart at the digital photo and grade how dramatic your breakup was on a scale of Khloe and Tristan to Prince Harry and the Royal family.

Those who participate in the in-store or virtual shredding event and posts a picture on social media with Hooter’s #ShredYourExFindYourNext picture frame will also be entered into a contest to win a premium Bumble subscription.

What does Hooters get out of it? Besides the extra business, it’s also trying to break last year’s record of more than 42,000 shredded photos.

Smash your ex’s stuff at Smash the Rage

Still have a box of your ex’s stuff crammed into your closet? You can get rid of it and let off some steam at Miami’s Rage room on Valentines Day.

Smash the Rage, 5056 Northwest 74 Avenue, is giving 10 percent off on any of its menu options if you book a room through Feb. 16 with the code “DATENIGHT.” While the entertainment venue says the special is available for anyone, including couples, it’s encouraging people to bring photo’s of their exes and anything else they want to smash and leave behind.

If smashing stuff with a bat isn’t your thing, you can also book a session to “splash paint” a room.

Shred your ex for a $10 gift card at Carolina Ale House

The restaurant chain is hosting their own “Shred Your Ex” event at its Miami and Doral locations Thursday and instead of free wings, you’ll get a $10 gift card you can spend at any Carolina Ale House.

Unlike Hooters, it’s not a “Buy One, Get One” type of special, so it might be a better deal for singles who aren’t planning to enjoy happy hour with a large group. The event will run from 5 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday.

Possible downer: You can’t use the card on Galentine’s Day. It’s for future use only.

The upside? Select drinks will range from $2 to $9.

Visit the restaurant’s Miami or Doral Facebook page for more info about how each location will be celebrating.

Drink and party at single V-DAY events

If smashing and shredding isn’t your style there’s more than a dozen other activities for singles in the Magic City. Some are more relaxed like Amelia’s 1931 private wine and food pairing with Fernando Vera from Touton on Thursday (Galentine’s Day) or The Wharf Miami’s Dog meetup and brunch Saturday special.

Others like Valentini, a single professional networking party, looks to connect Miami singles through speed dating and other activities while helping to raise funds for Kids Against Hunger, according to its website.

Most of these special events will require you to buy tickets or RSVP in advance.
