A free Super Bowl fan festival takes over downtown Miami with four days of pre-game fun
What’s free and Super Bowl related?
Not the game itself, that’s for sure. Tickets to the actual Super Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium are hard to come by. But Super Bowl Live, a block party presented by Verizon, is open to anyone with even the slightest interest in football. Best part? It’s free.
You may not have a seat on the 50 yard line but you’re as much a part of the game as the Miami Dolphins are.
The fan festival, which runs from Jan. 25 to Feb. 1, takes over Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, a good distance from Hard Rock Stadium. But don’t worry. There’s plenty to do:
Tailgate Town: This ongoing pre-game party features a culinary stage, celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, tailgating concessions and games. Closed Jan. 27-29.
Water acrobatics: Watch personal watercraft stunt and freestyle shows with aerial tricks involving on jet skis, flyboards and jetpacks featuring pro freestyler Chris Anyzeski. Jan. 30-31 and Feb. 1.
Evening parades: More than 100 performers will feature Caribbean Junkanoos, oversized costumes, soca and steel drums. The Latin Parade features samba dancers, acrobatic dancers and amazing costumes from Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina. Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Fireworks: Jan. 31 and Feb. 1
Pep rallies: Wear your team gear. Rallies for the AFC and NFC teams will be held 1-4 p.m. Feb. 1
Musical performances: There’s live music every day except Jan. 29, when Super Bowl Live is closed, culminating in a performance by Fitz and the Tantrums at 8 p.m. Feb. 1.
