'Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World'

Take a trip 200 million years back in time for a face-to-face encounter with the “T-rex of the seas” in the new IMAX 3D film, ‘Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World,‘ premiering Friday, September 2 at the Museum of Discovery and Science in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Using 3D CGI animation, the movie will take the audience on a journey to an extraordinary prehistoric underwater world when larger-than-life creatures ruled the seas 20 million years before dinosaurs roamed the earth. Moviegoers will meet Julie, an imaginative young woman on a visit to a modern-day aquarium, and travel with her back in time to the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods to discover a little-known universe populated by amazing animals; the powerful Liopleurodon, the long-necked Elasmosaurus, the “eye-lizard” Ophthalmosaurus, the ferocious Prognathodon, and the gigantic 75-foot Shonisaurus.

On September 3 and 4, visitors will also be able to enjoy a weekend of special “Sea Rex” activities, which are sure to be fun for the entire family. Kids can learn what it takes to be a paleontologist when they go on a “chocolate chip” fossil dig, identify animals by examining real fossils, and learn about marine predators in a game of Sea Monsters for the Wii. Plus, in a special presentation visitors can learn about the Allopeluron, a giant sea turtle that lived over 65 million years ago.

‘Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World,’ premieres September 2; opening weekend activities September 3-4 from noon-4 p.m. at Museum of Discovery and Science, 401 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, General Admission with full-length feature movies and Museum exhibits prices are $17 for adults and $14 for children 2 to 12.
