Two bands are showcased with Colombian roots and a Cuba group. There will also be a global bazaar with art and craft vendors. Free and open to the public.

  • Global Local Showcase & World Music Conference

Friday, August 7, 5PM – 1AM – Little Haiti Cultural Center, 212 NE 59th Terr, Miami

A variety of bands are showcased including Grammy nominated groups Conjunto Progreso and Palo! representing Cuba, Afro Cuban folklore ensemble Los Herederos, the Afrogalactic Tropidelic group Nag Champayons, and Senegalese artist Morikeba Kouyate. The conference features discussions, lectures, and workshops by industry professionals with topics focusing on the business of world music and an inside perspective on artist management, publishing, collecting royalties, and booking tours. Admission $15 at the door or $20 for a two day pass.

The opening act is Brazilian Carnival sounds of Bateria Unidos de Miami followed by Grammy nominated Colombian Reggae superstars Locos Por Juana, and festival headliner Hassan Hokmoun playing traditional music from the Gnawa peoples of Marrakesh, Morocco.
