African Diaspora Dance and Drum Festival

This annual cultural arts educational event aims to connect the African Diaspora to the community via drumming and dance workshops, symposium, vendor marketplace, children’s village and concert.

Historic Virginia Key Beach Park 70th Anniversary

Aug. 1

Where: 4020 Virginia Beach Dr., Miami

Virginia Key Beach Park was established as an official “colored only” recreation site as a direct response to a protest by Miami’s African-American community, which was being systematically shut out of public beaches. To commemorate this historic spot, it hosts a celebration with music, a classic car show, live performances by Maryel Epps, junkanoo bands, rides on the mini train and carousel, plus prizes and giveaways.

IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Festival

This annual dance festival highlights the crossroads between African and Cuban movement and features dance workshops with live drumming, a street fair and culminates with a gala performance featuring guest artists and IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Company.

International Ballet Festival of Miami

The Miami Hispanic Ballet company hosts its annual festival that brings together top companies and ballet stars from around the world for a program including performances, workshops, films, art exhibits and master classes.
