Kick back with some piano pieces from the 1920s-1950s

Head to the Lincoln Theatre on Miami Beach this Sunday, August 23, for a classical music program presented by the Miami Piano Circle that highlights composers from the 1920s to the 1950s.

These piano pieces are not heard very often, and the styles are a very eclectic mix, with an emphasis on Leo Ornstein, Frank Martin, Darius Milhaud, and Alberto Evaristo Ginastera.

Ginastera was an Argentine composer of classical music, Milhaud was a French-born composer and teacher, Ornstein was a Russian-born American talent whose work peaked in the mid-1920s and Martin was a Swiss composer who had a cabaret/early jazz influenced style.

Pianists Mia Vassilev, Liana Paiodz and percussionist Brian Potts are featured, with tickets starting at $20 – $5 for students and children under 14. The event, which begins at 3 p.m., includes a duo piano piece, one piano and percussion piece and one solo piano piece.

The Lincoln Theatre is located on 541 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.
