Women’s History Month in Opa-locka

Opa-locka Community Development Corporation (OLCDC) is celebrating Women’s History Month with an exhibit titled “Forces of Nature: Bounce and Flow” featuring works by Judy Sayfie, Elaine Defibaugh, Shelia Elias, and Hattie Mae Williams that opens Sunday, March 29 from 1 – 4 p.m. at The ARC, 675 Ali Baba Ave., Opa-locka. The event includes a panel discussion by the artists on the transformational value of art. It’s the second in a four-part series called META by the OLCDC. Public art in Fort Lauderdale

The Shade Post, an art and design warehouse at 16 NW 1st St., Fort Lauderdale, unveiled a new mural project by Brazilian-born and Miami-based artist Rubem Robierb called “Metamorph-Us.” The public art is part of his butterfly series analyzing the rapid changes in today’s society. Cannonball Visiting Residency

Cannonball is now accepting applications for the 2016 Visiting Residency Program for visual artists, curators, museum professionals, and other cultural producers who live outside of the Southeast Florida region to live and work in Cannonball’s facility for one to three months, between Feb. and mid-Dec. 2016. 2015 Pulse Prize 

Painter Elisabeth Condon’s series “Notes from Shanghai,” inside the booth of Miami-based gallery Emerson Dorsch, won the 2015 Pulse Prize at Pulse New York earlier this month. The artist, who splits her time between Brooklyn and Tampa, was among 14 artists nominated. The prize has recognized solo presentation of distinction within the fair since 2006.  For more information, visit emersondorsch.com.
