Saturday event provides bikers of all levels a safe path in Miami
Love cycling, but live in fear of the mean streets of Miami? Don’t settle for pedaling in peril: Here’s an event that will have you cheering while you’re steering, free and safe from menacing motor vehicles.
Bike the Underline, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 21 along the 10 miles of paved pathway beneath the Metrorail, serves as both a great family event and a vision of a future where the streets of Miami are transformed into a cycling-friendly community.
Four Metrorail Stations – Dadeland North, Brickell, University and South Miami – will offer live entertainment, art shows, health and fitness checkups, a bike rodeo for kids, yoga and zumba sessions, food trucks, giveaways, gear checks and guided bike tours along the M-Path.
All activities are free to cyclists, runners and walkers of all ages, and bicycles are allowed on Metrorail cars, so the whole family can combine biking with public transportation for a fun, car-free day.
