Miss Universe Jamaica 2012, Chantal Zaky, hosts this month’s live music and open mic event hosted on the 11th of every month. The event is also a fundraiser for Trench Town For Life, a program raising funds to build a new library in Boys Town School in Kingston, Jamaica to help inspire the youth to read.

Opening Reception for Purvis Young Exhibit at MOCA

The open reception, “The Art of Purvis Young,” co-sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Multi-Cultural Division kicks off the exhibition of the self-taught acclaimed Overtown artist, Purvis Young titled “Under the Bridge, Beyond the Beach and Above the Muck: The Art of Purvis Young.” Admission $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, and complimentary to MOCA members and North Miami residents. Following the reception is the City’s Spiritual Explosion NoMi Musical Nights concert at the MOCA Plaza from 7-9 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
