Whether you have a green thumb or are a horrible horticulturist, the Tamiami International Orchid Festival is a chance to learn about these exotic plants plus acquire a few of your own from the wide selection of international growers who attend the event each year boasting a colorful assortment of the varied species of orchids. Seminars include topics like Intro to Orchid Growing for the beginners taught by Dr. Martin Motes from Motes Orchids, who along with Warren Kelly founded the event, as well as others on identifying diseases and pests that plague the flowers. Zoilo Richard of the Jardín Botánico Nacional Rafael Moscoso in the Dominican Republic will host a chat on the different orchids found on the island. Attendees can enter into the free raffle to win more than fifty beautiful orchids.
