Things To Do

Nude male models in Miami! Booze! Art, music and ping pong, too.

Nude Male Models!

Now that we’ve got your attention, the aforementioned full monty’s disclosure is that they are part of Bottle & Bottega’s Ladies’ Night Out Painting Party, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday January 22 at Vino in the Grove, 3409 Main Highway. There, a “hot, hunky male model” will be naked and will also allegedly mingle with guests, though we have a feeling he may be sporting a loin cloth during the mingling. That being said, we’re told “guests will be guided through a hands-on figure painting tutorial.” Wine will also be flowing. Er,  yep, we did write “hands-on.” And wine. Men and women are both welcome. Tickets are $50 and include instruction, supplies and a take home canvas. Model not included. To sign up, click here.

Nothing Ordinary

Some people ask how to get to Carnegie Hall and while the old vaudeville joke may have been “practice,” today you can pay your way to perform there. Not so much at Miami music hot spot Blackbird Ordinary, 729 SW 1st Ave., which, at 8 p.m. Friday, January 16 will debut for the first time Miami’s fave funk fusionistas known as Electric Piquete, performing two 45-minute sets of originals and standards on the patio. Shows end at 10 p.m. There’s no cover. For more info, go to

Like peanut butter and chocolate, some things just go well together. Take Miami urban/alt.rock group iMayday! and LA lyricist slash rapper Murs. When the two join, it’s not Reese’s but something as aurally pleasing known as iMursday!, performing Saturday, January 17 at The Stage Miami, 170 NE 38th St., for the last time before going on hiatus. Supporting the musical merger that night will be DJs Heron and Sharpsound. Domestic beers and fireball shots are $3, well drinks $8, and for the high(er) rollers, there are vodka and champagne bottle specials. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance here and $20 at the door.

Sweet Charities

The Perez Art Museum Miami’s Art of the Party Presented by Louis Vuitton may be a high roller event, with tickets ranging from $50,000 and down. Over at the Mondrian, 1100 West Ave., Angels for Animal Rescue presents Paws for Prayers 2015,a fundraiser hosted by ex Real Housewives of Miami’s Joanna Krupa. There, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be amusing animal lover only appreciated events such as a dog costume contest, owner and dog look alike contest, “animal blessings by monks,” dog fashion show and more. Proceeds go to BodhiFest Miami, a two week multi-culti spiritual celebration at the Ichimura Miami Japanese Garden, 1101 MacArthur Causeway, for which this event serves as kickoff and Angels for Animal Rescue. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $20.

Pong Hits

You love your double Shack burgers so much that it’s starting to become a bit of a problem. Instead of giving them up completely, why not join Shake Shack’s Table Tennis League, kicking off with a doubles (there’s a theme here) tourney at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 22 at the Coral Gables location, 1450 S. Dixie Highway, and continuing every Thursday thereafter for a total of eight weeks. Each team of two will get a Shake Shack swag bag  of t-shirts, sweatbands (!), hats, chocolate bars (!), gift cards, and more. All for the low, low price of $30 per team. There will also be drink specials.
