Mad Cat Theatre Company brings a futuristic production of 'The Star-Spangled Girl'

Two things that might not seem to go together — Miami’s edgy Mad Cat Theatre Company and a 1966 Neil Simon comedy — meet and merge when Mad Cat’s futuristic production of The Star-Spangled Girl opens this weekend. Set in the year 2066, the Paul Tei-directed show features Jessica Farr in the title role, Theo Reyna and Noah Levine as radicals who publish a magazine dedicated to fighting corruption, and Stephen G. Anthony as the narrator. The play runs through Jan. 25 at Miami Theater Center’s SandBox, 9816 NE Second Ave., Miami Shores. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday-Sunday. Tickets are $30 ($15 for students). For Saturday’s opening night, which includes pre-show food and drink, tickets are $50. Call 866-811-4111 or visit
