Trevor Noah: Florida congresswoman Frederica Wilson deserves an apology
He’s got Miami on his mind.
On Monday’s “The Daily Show,” host Trevor Noah vehemently defended Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson, who is embroiled in so called Condolence-Gate, the fury over President Trump’s allegedly insensitive call to the widow of slain Miami Gardens soldier Sgt. La David T. Johnson. Last week, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly criticized her past accomplishments and said that the hat-loving pol made a lot of noise as “an empty barrel.”
The South African entertainer took umbrage at the former general’s phrasing.
“People don’t realize, but she’s not only a four-term congresswoman. She’s a former educator with a master’s degree,” Noah said of Wilson. “She was a member of the Florida State Legislature. And she also founded the 5,000-people Role Models program. The same program that helped a young man named La David Johnson graduate from Miami public schools to become a celebrated Green Beret. So, she’s not an empty barrel; she’s someone who deserves an apology.”

Hopefully Condolence-Gate won’t still be a hot topic when Noah performs at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near Hollywood on Jan. 26.
