Things To Do

5 reasons to attend the Miami Gardens Wine & Food Experience. No. 1 is Michelle Bernstein.

Three time’s the charm for this year’s Miami Gardens Wine & Food Experience (MGWFE) on Nov. 11 which has raised the bar for this third year to feature celebrity chefs, new experiences, and of course, more food. Inspired and presented by the City of Miami Gardens and Councilwoman Lisa C. Davis, MGWFE is a celebration and showcase of diversity in our local food scene from cultural foods and fine cuisine to vegan options, street food and specialty wines.

So whether you’re familiar with MGWFE and have attended in the past or wondering why you should attend this year, here are a few good reasons.

Michelle Bernstein is headlining!

We love Chef Michy! So wherever she goes, we go. We’ve seen the James Beard Award Winner go from being a super fabulous restaurateur to now having her own regular show – “SoFlo Taste” on Channel 10 and the Emmy-award winning “Check please! South Florida” on PBS. If you’ve ever eaten at any of her restaurants, then you know that she’s famous for blending her Latin and Jewish backgrounds into soulful cooking. She’ll be at MGWFE hosting the Master Chef Cook-off between three local break out chefs.

Chef Roble is coming from New York

His claim to mainstream fame is his two-season run on Bravo TV’s culinary docudrama “Roble & Co” chronicling his celebrity chef life launching his high-end catering company. You may have seen him on ABCs “The Chew” where he’s a regular contributor, and he’s cooked for VIPs like Michelle and Barack Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Jackson, Chris Rock, and Jack Nicholson. He’s also hosting the Master Chef Cook-off with Michelle Bernstein, and the two together will be a dynamic duo.

Plenty of brews

New to the MGWFE line up is the Urban Beer Garden inspired by the growing number of local breweries. So far Funky Buddha, Descarga Brewing Company, Hollywood Brewing Co, and LauderAle Brewery are all confirmed to participate and more breweries are being confirmed.

Unlimited sip & savor

Who doesn’t love to eat to your heart’s content? Between the Grand Tasting tent, Wine Boutique, and the Cigar & Whiskey Bar, you’ll go to sleep like a happy baby by the time the night is over. Expect dozens of restaurants each showcasing a different element of South Florida’s indisputable food culture.

Master Chef Cook-off

Thanks to the ‘gram, everyone’s a chef. But these chefs aren’t amateurs and have been putting in the grind perfecting their culinary skills hoping to become like the Michelle Bernstein’s and Chef Roble’s of the world. Working from a mystery basket filled with ingredients, the chef contests will have thirty minutes to create a dish that passes Chef Michy’s and Chef Roble’s approval.
