Dale! Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Miami at these events
We’re the gateway to Latin America and Miami-Dade’s population is more than half Hispanic so it’s only fitting there are plenty of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs now through Oct. 15. Peruse our list despacito (that means slowly, in case you didn’t know) and mark your calendar accordingly.
1. Taco Tuesday Throwdown
Miami’s top taco makers come together to battle for taco domination. Already confirmed to compete are La Santa Taqueria, Tacology, Taquerias El Mexicano, Twice Butter and more. The event will feature music by Afrobeta and all the tacos you could ever want.
7-10 p.m. Oct. 3 at Canvas, 90 NE 17th St., Miami
2. La Mano Hispana Exhbition
7 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Milander Center, 4800 Palm Ave., Hialeah
3. La Gran Fiesta 2017
The MOCA Plaza in the heart of North Miami is the site for a full blown all-day Hispanic Heritage celebration, La Gran Fiesta. Headliner Marlow Rosado performs as well as Colombian singer Catabella Cantante. Local radio host Enrique Santos keeps the party going as Master of Ceremonies. North Miami’s own Descarga Brewery will be pouring and vendors from North Miami’s local Whole Foods Market, Pastry is Art and Johnson & Wales University will be selling tasty grub.

4. Hispanic Heritage Celebration City of Doral
Performances by various Hispanic performance groups and Hispanic-themed food.
7-9 p.m. Oct. 13 at Doral Legacy Park, 11400 NW 82 St., Doral
5. Coral Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival
Spend the weekend celebrating Hispanic Heritage in front of City Hall in Coral Gables on picturesque Biltmore Way during the Coral Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival. Buy art, jewelry and more from local artists, enjoy a Farmer’s Table area, a new addition to this year’s event. Enjoy dance performances from various Hispanic groups and dance to music from several popular performers. Concrete Beach Brewery will be pouring their own brand, Stilltsville and Havana Lager, and soccer stars, face painters and bounce houses make up the Kids’ Pavilion.
