Would you go to a beachy Peruvian BBQ with five top chefs? Sure you would
Call it a writing prompt for four great South Florida chefs.
The internationally renowned toque Gaston Acurio, executive chef at the Mandarin Oriental’s La Mar, has recruited chefs from four of Miami’s top restaurants to make their best ceviches — with a charity in mind.
Brad Kilgore (of Alter and Brava), Giorgio Rapicavoli (Eating House, Glass and Vine) and Phuket “Cake” Thongsodchaveondee (Cake Thai) will join La Mar’s Diego Oka and Acurio as the Cebiche Gang. They will collaboration on a Peruvian-style barbecue beachside at the Mandarin Oriental on June 11.
The event, which costs $120 a person, raises funds for Acurio’s Pachacútec Culinary Institute, a culinary school for underprivileged students in Peru, where they learn everything the history of Peruvian cuisine, kitchen techniques, nutrition and English from some of the masters in the field.
