Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

Ten days of screenings of culturally diverse films, video and other media that offer historical and contemporary perspectives on the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender experience. Highlights of this year’s line-up includes a Made in Miami Spotlight film “South Beach on Heels,” a movie about the drag divas of The Palace, plus filmmakers awards and the annual Angel Award, presented to LGBT advocates and allies. This year’s Angel Award will be presented at the Opening Ceremony on May 2nd to Miami Herald staff writer Steve Rothaus for his years of covering LGBT issues and events in South Florida.

 

MIAMI Museum Month

During May, all visitors and locals will be offered “Buy One, Get One Free” admission at participating museums. Also, membership at any one of these participating museums will work as a free pass to any of the other museums.

Exxxotica Expo

Arguably the largest adult-themed consumer show in America, the Exxxotica Expo rolls into South Florida yearly for a celebration of all things sexy. Adult entertainment stars meet with fans, wannabe porn starlets can attend industry seminars and vendors offer their naughty wares at this weekend kinkfest.

Mainly Mozart Festival

The Miami Chamber Music Society is now the driving force behind this classical music series that highlight some of Mozart’s most important works as well as those of composers like Egilsson, Tchaikovsky and Brahms and many others over the course of two months and 11 concerts.

Aqua Girl

Aqua Girl attracts women who love women for a jam-packed week of events like Speed Dating, a Wine & Cheese reception, parties – pool and otherwise – plus  a happy hour, a concert and karaoke. Proceeds from Aqua Girl benefit the Aqua Foundation for Women, a not-for-profit-foundation whose primary mission is to serve as a funding catalyst for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender wellness and equality in South Florida through grants, scholarships, and initiatives.

Redland International Orchid Festival

Cuba Nostalgia

Cuba Nostalgia takes visitors on a journey back in time for those who remember the island’s glamorous heydays and for those who never experienced them. There will be live Cuban exhibits, artists and vendors, traditional Cuban foods, and of course, music.

Urban Beach Week

Bringing together a multi-ethnic community during Memorial Day weekend, Urban Beach Week is an annual event that holds festivities promoting unity and pride. UBW holds events and provides entertainment, food, music, and other activities that attract hundreds of thousands to South Beach each year including The Best of the Best Concert, which features some of the hottest acts in hip hop, reggae and R&B.
