Five Reasons to attend a Miami Hurricanes baseball game ASAP

For the first time since June 10, 2008, the University of Miami baseball team is ranked No. 1 in the nation by Baseball America. So here are five reasons to go check out a Hurricanes baseball game with friends and family this season.

1. Go watch the best!

The Miami Hurricanes baseball team (25-4) is the top-ranked college baseball team in America. Enough said.

2. The fans are loyal, loud and funny….

…, yet the low-key atmosphere says, ‘Kick back, bask in the warmth and relax.’ The games are really fun for young and old. With zany promotions and activities between innings and a Miami Maniac mascot that loves clowning around with fans, Canes baseball has a small-time feel for a big-time program.

3. Dollar hot dog night is on Wednesdays…

… plus Cuban coffee. We dare you to find a better deal at a sporting event in Miami.

4. The famous Mark Light Milkshakes

Get in line early or else! These shakes will leave you slurping with a smile. The milkshakes come in more than 40 flavors, including the No. 1-selling “Jayro” (chocolate ice cream, hot fudge and Oreo Cookies) — named after public address announcer Jay Rokeach. Oh, and  the Mark Light “Milkshake race’’ will leave you laughing.

5. Jay Rokeach is the best college baseball announcer in the nation.

The UM public address announcer for 48 seasons, Rokeach has a great voice, smooth delivery and is known for his witty, hilarious one-liners. He knows University of Miami sports —  including football and basketball — as well as anyone. He was also the first Marlins announcer and the former voice of the Florida Panthers.

Single-game tickets start at $8 for general admission and are $6 for youth 17-younger and adults 65-older. Click here to purchase.

Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field is at the corner of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and San Amaro Drive in Coral Cables on the University of Miami campus. The stadium seats 4,999 and is home of the four-time national champion Miami Hurricanes, who won titles in 1982, 85, 99 and 2001.
