One of the hottest hip-hop duos in the world is headed for the Magic City, as Seattle’s Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will hit the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach on Jan. 19, inspiring fans to throw their hands up like the ceiling can’t hold them.
Rapid-fire rapper Macklemore and DJ/producer Lewis won four Grammys for their debut album, “The Heist,” which shot to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 despite the lack of support from a major record label.

The artists are also the first pair in history to have their first two singles – “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us” – hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
To date, 2012’s “Thrift Shop” has scored more than 750 million hits (yes, million) on YouTube. Today, they’ve hit gold again with the infectious, hilarious old-school romp “Downtown,” which also features Kool Moe Dee, Melle Mel, Eric Nally and Grandmaster Caz, and is the first single off of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ upcoming second album.
Already having used their platform to support such causes as LGBT rights and same-sex marriage in the song “Same Love” (Macklemore – real name Ben Haggerty – and his wife Tricia Davis even waited until gay marriage became legal in the United States to tie the knot, on June 27), the group has partnered with Plus One so that a dollar from every ticket purchased on its tour will go to support Equal Justice Initiative, Youth Speaks and the 30/30 Project.
Tickets ($59.50-$80.50) go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at LiveNation.com.
