Touchdowns & Tequila!
Maybe enough tequila can help ease the brutality of this season’s Miami Dolphins (and last season’s, and the year before that, and the one before that one). Or maybe not. But why cringe when you can chill from noon to 4 p.m. every Sunday at the Football Fiesta at Bodega Taqueria y Tequila (1220 16th St.). You’ll get to witness the games while chowing on $2 taco specials, game day nachos, pigs in empanada, guacamole, $2 draft beers, $2 Dobel shots and $6 specialty cocktails. If and when the Dolphins score a touchdown, the crowd gets a free shot of tequila. Emphasis on if.

For the exceptionally touchy feely, hands-on types who happen to have a hankering for cheese, Ni Do Caffe, 7295 Biscayne Blvd., is throwing the perfect party at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 and the second Wednesday of every month thereafter. You’ll be able to make your own mozzarella along with executive chef Claudio Sandri, who will teach patrons how to stretch and mold curds into half pound mozzarella balls. Those are some big balls. And you don’t really need any experience other than one or two good hands. During the $65 per person experience, you’ll get a flute of Prosecco and a glass of red and white wine as well as the mozz you just made along with antipasti of olives, tomatoes, cold cuts and more. Space is limited and reservations are required by calling 786-953-5120.
Early to Bed
Although the Coconut Grove Bed Race isn’t until Nov. 7, that month-long wait is a good excuse to throw a pre-party at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Concrete Beach Brewery, 325 NW 24th St. You can check in under your favorite team and they will earn an extra push on race day. In exchange, supporters attending the Road to the Race pre-party will get beer specials and burger samples. For more information on the Bed Race and teams, click here.
Speaking of the Grove, while it may not be what it used to as far as mom and pop shops, head shops and hippie/hipster culture, there’s still booze being served there — lots of it — and to prove it, Last Call Pub Crawls is creeping through the ‘hood at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 starting at Duffy’s, 3015 Grand Ave., where the imbibing starts and continues for an hour before moving on to Taurus, Barracuda, and Mr. Moe’s. At each stop there will be happy hour prices and a free shot. Cost to crawl is $20. Tickets are available here.
