Philanthropists and altruists of all budgets come together on Give Miami Day, a 24-hour giveathon where non-profits, cultural and charitable organizations all receive some much-needed year-end fiscal love from locals via givemiamiday.org. The event, taking place this year on November 19, is a bonanza to these groups because the Miami Foundation, Knight Foundation and other partners maximize the community’s generosity by making a bonus gift for every donation between $25 and $10,000 received via the website.
Last year Give Miami Day raised $5.2 million for 520 local nonprofits from more than 19,000 donors spanning the city, nation and globe. The 24 hours begins midnight on November 19 and ends midnight on November 20. Donors can select the groups they prefer from the profiles on the website, which features a list of more than 500 nonprofit organizations serving Miami-Dade County.
