Here’s where to take the kids for Halloween fun that won’t leave them traumatized (hopefully)

The entire month of October is free game for Halloween-themed events. If you plan right in Miami, you can get the kids involved in some spooky fun every weekend. Here are some of the best family-friendly Halloween events taking place during the month of October.

Hallow Fest at Jungle Island

Jungle Island debuts its thrilling “Hallow Fest,” a themed weekend-long adventure that is open to guests of all ages at the newly designed eco-adventure park. Filled with interactive games, haunted trails, pumpkin painting, face painting, costume contests, animal interactions and much more. With every child admission, children will receive a free small pumpkin to decorate at the park’s pumpkin painting station, with medium and large pumpkins available for additional purchase.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Tr., Miami; $52.95, $39.95 (3-10 years). Children two and under are free.

House of Horror

Ok, this isn’t for ALL the kids. If your five year old doesn’t like seeing actors is super realistic zombie make-up, leave them home. And even some adults might not want to enter the two different haunted houses,  the creepily named Blossom Lane and alien-invaded Area 13. That said, your teenagers are going to begging to hit this place every weekend for some serious frights but there are also carnival rides for the little kids, good food and grown up dranks.

Zoo Boo

Kids ages 12 and under get to trick-or-treat in costumes, participate in costume contests, watch special performances, make Halloween crafts and see the Zoo’s wild animals get their Halloween goodies.

Halloweek at KINGS Doral


The whole family can get in on the Halloween fun all week at KINGS Dining & Entertainment Doral with happy hours, crafts for the kids and Halloween treats.

Monster Splash

Miami Seaquarium will be taken over by ghosts and goblins with Halloween themed shows, trick-or-treating, rides and inflatables, Flipper’s dance party, create a scarecrow activities, pumpkin patch and much more.

Frost Science

Learn about the science of slime at Mini-Me Science, where kids can create their own glow in the dark slime. Or hang out at the annual Spooky Science Monster Mash, a unique STEAM spin on Halloween with experiments and creepy encounters throughout the day like live science demonstrations, underwater pumpkin carving, animal encounters and more.

11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Frost Museum of Science, 1101 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; admission $17-$29, Mini-Me Science is an additional $10-$12.

Spooky Symphony

The Greater Miami Youth Symphony and the Alhambra Orchestra come together for a free Halloween concert with music from films such as “Jurassic Park,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Star Wars” and more; plus eerie classics like Mozart’s Don Giovanni overture and Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. Additional concert highlights include a spellbinding multimedia presentation, a surprise vocalist and costume-clad musicians.

Halloween on the Mile

Kids trick or treat along Miracle Mile making more than 50 stops to fill up their treat bags along with a storytime at Books & Books, kiddie costume contest at Actors’ Playhouse and Doggie Costume Contest at Coral Gables Museum.

Not So Spooky Halloween

Take the kids trick-or-treating throughout Gulfstream Park, listen to spooky sounds with the DJ in Champions Plaza and catch the Wizard Show at Pegasus Park.
