Have you always wanted to dine at the former Versace mansion on South Beach but were afraid that 1) you were not fashionable enough or 2) the bill would be bigger than your rent?
If so, we have some good news.

Gianni’s at The Villa Casa Casuarina is now offering a $29 prix fixe lunch seven days a week, which means you can dine outdoors by that famous pool and pretend you’re staying in the hotel. (You cannot, however, swim in that famous pool. Remember this or suffer the consequences when you cannonball in and disturb the hotel guests.)
Still, this could be your table:
Gianni’s has never offered a lunch option before, so now’s your chance to take some epic selfies. Also we can attest to the fact that the servers are extremely patient if you are literally taking photos of everything from the ice water to the fans.
The prix fixe menu includes an appetizer, an entree and dessert. The lunch wines-by-the-glass menu, with glasses from $9-$12, is also something of a bargain on overpriced Ocean Drive (we liked the rosé).
Just remember, some items – like the tuna tartare appetizer, the Australian lamb chops and the seafood pasta with lobster and scallops – come with a $10 or $15 surcharge. The menu will tell you. Don’t be so overwhelmed you miss this.
Trust us, though. You will find something to like.
Our favorites were the garlicky seafood pasta, the mushroom truffle risotto (no surcharge!) and the grilled octopus. Dessert is simple: fresh fruit (raspberries, blackberries, watermelon, melon), lemon sorbet or vanilla ice cream.
Still, let’s acknowledge why we’re really here: to take photos of the gorgeous pool area.
I mean, seriously, don’t you want to brag to all your friends that you were here? Why are you even on social media?
The former Versace mansion was back in the news earlier this year with the premiere of Ryan Murphy’s FX series “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” The show, which starred Edgar Ramirez, Darren Criss, Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz, tells the story of the fashion icon’s murder in 1997 by serial killer Andrew Cunanan.
As tourist season heats up, your best bet is to call for reservations. Lunch runs from noon until 3 p.m.
