ICA Speaks: Jorge Pardo
Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami presents Cuban sculptor Jorge Pardo in ICA Speaks 7 p.m. Friday, March 18 at the Palm Court Event Space in the Miami Design District. The ICA Speaks series features artists from the museum’s permanent collection and is supported by the Lampert Family Foundation. Pardo’s oeuvre reflects the complex relationships between architecture, sculpture, design, painting and drawing. Admission is free with RSVP. Israeli-American sculptor Boaz Vaadia is celebrating a the reveal of his installation at the new Armani Casa development in Sunny Isles Beach with a talk about his work and style, along with a book signing, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16. The New Jersey-based artist has public installations across the country though the most popular is Asaf and Yo’ah in front of the Time Warner Center in New York. New in Pembroke Pines
SMG, a leader in public assembly facility management, is confirmed to handle the pre-opening and management for the new Pembroke Pines Civic and Cultural Center, which set to open in January 2017. SMG teamed with Broward Center for the Performing Arts to guide the arts and entertainment initiatives as well as community engagement. Construction has already begun on the $58 million project that will have a total of 30,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, as well as staging and seating for entertainment events with up to 3,400 guests.
