Family friendly events fill this weekend’s calendar in Miami as well as numerous free live music entertainments. Here are just some of the free and cheap highlights:
Thousands of locals and tourists will celebrate the Easter holiday at a number of places throughout Miami. Churches, of course, will be the center of the attention but shopping malls and tourist attractions also have plenty of activities scheduled throughout the weekend, such as taking photos with the bunny, hunting for prizes and eating candy.

Public school kids will finish their Spring Break vacation this weekend while private school kids are beginning theirs. Trying to come up with daily entertainment for the kids is enough to make a parent go crazy. But we’ve sorted through various family friendly events and activities in Miami that are good for both tourists and locals who don’t want to break the bank. They include free tours, museum admissions and more. Check it all out here.
The Youth Fair
The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition is taking place now through April 10, and it is open daily (except for Monday-Tuesday on March 28-29 and April 4-5). With 86 acres, it is the largest fair in Florida, attracting more than 653,000 guests last year. The fair has more than 90 heart pounding rides, two giant Kiddielands, food, livestock and agricultural competitions, live concerts and shows, a European style circus and more. We also love that it offers numerous ways, in terms of coupons and such, to get a discount on the admission.
Free and cheap live music is the norm in Miami whether it’s at a restaurant, bar, shopping mall, casino or park. That’s the case pretty much every weekend and this one is no different. So whether you are interested in hearing for free: Timmy Thomas and the Overtown Soul Review in North Miami, Electric Piquete at Hialeah Park, Viva and Los Cantantes at Magic City Casino, Brazilian Explosion, La Tradicion and David Fernando at Dolphin Mall, or 3RG and Miami Moonshine in Homestead for $6, there is something for everyone.
Broward County has its numerous lists of free and cheap things to do this weekend. The activities and events include everything from free egg hunts and spring festivals to artist glass-blowing demonstrations to a discount for an orchid and bromeliad show and much more.
