This lively cafe and bar is closing after 26 years on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach
Another piece of Miami Beach history is leaving Lincoln Road.
Segafredo L’Originale, the boisterous Italian-style café and bar that opened in the summer of 2000, when Lincoln Road was still a popular destination with locals, is closing its doors 26 Junes later.
Segafredo was a staple on the pedestrian road, a spot that moved seamlessly from morning espressos to kick off a day of shopping to evening aperitivos before or after a movie or dinner. And late-night cocktails, along with music supplied by a DJ, were always on the menu.
There were no velvet ropes. Just drinks, music and vibes.
Segafredo owner Mark Soyka, also known for his groundbreaking restaurant Soyka at the edge of the MiMo neighborhood, called it the perfect place for celebration and conversation.
“Some of the best memories of Miami Beach happened at those tables on Lincoln Road,” he said. “I think that’s why the place connected with people for so long.”
Graziano Sbroggio, CEO and owner of the restaurant’s parent Graspa Group, thanked the city, the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District and its long-time neighbor, the Colony Theatre, for their partnerships throughout the years.
“When we opened Segafredo, we wanted to create an authentic Italian-style bar where people could gather at any hour of the day for great food, drinks, music and conversation,” he said. “What followed became part of the rhythm of Miami Beach for 26 incredible years. I’m deeply grateful to every guest, employee and DJ who helped shape that journey.”
“Like all beautiful things in life, this chapter must come to an end,” he added. “We are proud of what we built.”
If you want to say farewell to Segafredo, the café is hosting a party from 2-10 p.m. on its last day of service, June 21, at 1040 Lincoln Road. Expect a complimentary glass of bubbly, menu favorites and live DJ sets from artists who played at the venue through the years.
