Team behind popular Miami Mexican spots opens new restaurant in Aventura
A new Mexican restaurant from the team behind Wynwood’s Bakan, the Grove’s Koko and Talavera in Coral Gables is now open in Aventura.
This northernmost spot is Jacinta, near Bloomingdale’s at the Aventura Mall. The restaurant, which seats 240 diners, was designed by the Madrid-based studio Hurlé & Martin, inspired by (what else?) Tulum, using such materials as woven fibers, green marble, handmade ceramics and terrazzo floors.
Alicia Martin, co-founder of Hurlé & Martin, said the materials used were designed to show “warmth, openness and that effortless sense of connection you feel in a Mexican home.”
“Our intention with Jacinta was to create a space that feels alive, one that celebrates Mexican artistry while embracing the contemporary rhythms of Mexico,” she said.
The cuisine leans toward coastal Mexican fare, like ceviche with corvina and habanero; bluefin tuna tostadas and smoked salmon tostadas; and a seafood and basmati rice casserole with shrimp, octopus, calamari and sea bass.
Grilled items are available too, like octopus al carbon, skirt steak with roasted poblano chile and guacamole and Tomahawk steak. There are also tacos: Chilean sea bass, tempura shrimp, duck confit, carnitas, smoked beef brisket and chopped beef tongue. There are also vegetarian and vegan options like cauliflower al pastor tacos or veggie enchiladas.
Margaritas are a specialty, including the Mango Tango with jalapeño essence and La Famosa with apple, passion fruit, basil, lime and St. Germain. Non-margarita cocktails include the Dragon Spell, with rum, passion fruit, dragon fruit and mint, and beer, Mexican wine and Micheladas are also on the menu.
