‘Nights that people remember’: Miami hot spot celebrates 10 years in Brickell

If you have attended a soiree in Miami over the past decade, chances are you have been to Marion.

The restaurant and nightlife destination in the Brickell neighborhood is known for its Thursday Soirees, the upscale, over-the-top dinner parties loaded with bottle parades, live performances and a dinner party-gone-wild atmosphere.

This week, the hot spot celebrates its 10th anniversary with the Soiree of the Decade on Oct. 16 with all of the usual elements — and, knowing Marion, probably something new and unexpected.

Founder Mathieu Massa, CEO of Mr. Hospitality Miami, the group behind Lafayette Steakhouse and Queen Miami Beach, said that while the restaurant serves an Asian-American menu, the Marion experience has always been about more than dining.

“Over the past decade, we’ve poured our hearts into crafting nights that people remember filled with energy, music, and a sense of belonging,” he said, adding that he named the hot spot after his sister. “It’s the emotion behind each evening that keeps people coming back. In a city that changes as quickly as Miami does, staying relevant has meant staying true to our identity while constantly evolving.”

It’s easy to forget that the Brickell of 10 years ago was a lot different than it is today. Long before spots like Rosa Sky and Sexy Fish arrived and just months before Komodo opened, Brickell was more of a financial center and not the best place for a party. Massa describes the neighborhood then as “full of potential and a bit rough around the edges.”

“When we opened Marion in 2015, Brickell was still finding its identity,” he said. “I felt it was the perfect place to introduce something new, a concept that blended refined dining with vibrant social energy. Over the years, Brickell has quickly become one of Miami’s most dynamic destinations. It’s no longer just a financial district, but a lifestyle hub full of energy, culture, and movement. We’ve watched that transformation up close and are proud to have been part of it from the very beginning.”

A changing neighborhood brings challenges, of course. Last summer, Marion closed for a multi-million dollar renovation, reopening with a new look with custom-made Murano chandeliers, ceiling installations, new fabrics and a bigger open-air dining patio.

“The city moves fast, with tastes and energy constantly changing, forcing you to constantly keep reinventing yourself,” Massa explained. “But that’s also the beauty of it. Marion’s story is very much tied to Miami’s evolution, and both have grown in ways I could never have imagined 10 years ago. We’ve refined the cuisine, elevated the performances and reimagined the atmosphere time and time again — not to chase trends, but to keep the spirit alive. It hasn’t always been easy to maintain that balance, but that’s what makes it so meaningful and draws guests back. ”

Massa said that Marion will always continue to evolve, with new programming, new menu items or design elements.

“The city never stops moving, and neither do we,” he said. “This 10th anniversary also feels like a natural moment to pause and reflect. It is an appreciation of how far we’ve come and what Marion has meant to the people who made it what it is. Every chapter has its own life, and this one has been extraordinary. The heart of Marion, that mix of sophistication, playfulness, and connection, will always remain. Whatever the future holds, that spirit will continue to live on in everything we create.”
