This beloved pizza spot from Kendall won’t be leaving South Miami after all

One of Kendall’s favorite pizza spots is making a permanent home in South Miami.

Vice City Pizza, which took over the restaurant Bar Bella at 5829 SW 73rd St. for the summer back in June, is staying permanently at the location. Beloved for its Detroit-style pies with a crispy, airy crust, Vice City was an immediate hit, drawing excited diners for whom the original west Kendall location was a taxing drive .

Now, they can revel in the special pizzas that made Vice City famous, like the Roni & Hot Honey (pepperoni and Mike’s Hot Honey) or the Brie and Fig (mozzarella, brie, gorgonzola, caramelized onion, pistachio and fig jam).

“It was a risk we took that paid off,” Jorgie Ramos, owner of Bar Bella and co-owner of Vice City Pizza with Chef Carlos Estarita, told the Miami Herald earlier this summer. “We’re doing very well.”

The Vice City in Kendall remains open, and the brand plans to open a third location in Homestead.

But that’s not the only change coming for Ramos’ empire. His Cebada Rooftop in Coral Gables, which was closed briefly over the summer for renovations, is reopening with the Bar Bella concept moving into Cebada’s indoor space.

Ramos, who named Bar Bella after his daughter Annabella, said he didn’t want to close the concept altogether and let her down. But instead of being the more family-friendly restaurant it was, the new Bar Bella is reopening as a chic lounge, with martinis and champagne, as well as caviar bumps.

Outside, at Cebada Rooftop, diners will find an updated bar area with new umbrellas; cooling misters to combat the summer heat; and fresh greenery along with a new paint job. There will also be a new menu and new events, including an omakase-style Scotch dinner with The Balvenie on Sept. 17.

Caja China Night returns on Oct. 1, while every Thursday will feature Smoked Paella night.
