A Latin American restaurant helmed by a chef and TV personality has announced it’s closing in Miami.

Chica, the colorful restaurant that took over the former Soyka space helmed by Lorena Garcia, announced on OpenTable that it was no longer in business at 5556 NE Fourth Ct.

“It is with sincere gratitude and a heavy heart that we share the news that, after six incredible years, Chica Miami has officially closed its doors,” the note said.

“We are truly thankful for the support, joy, and memories you all have helped create with us over the years. While it’s difficult to say goodbye to our Miami home, the spirit of Chica lives on in Las Vegas — and we would be honored to welcome you there and continue sharing our vibrant flavors and hospitality with you.”

The restaurant was also removed from the brand’s Instagram account.

The Venezuelan-born Garcia, who partnered with the 50 Eggs restaurant group to open the first Chica in Las Vegas in 2017, opened Chica Miami in 2019.

She told the Miami Herald then that the restaurant was “a celebration of the food you find in Miami,” because it incorporated many of the food memories throughout her life: her Venezuelan childhood, her Argentine cooking show, her spouse’s Peruvian family and travels through Mexico and Latin America, all of which resonate in diverse Miami.
