Miami brand opens a new restaurant in Coconut Grove — and it’s twice as big as the rest
What started as a small café in Miami Beach has blossomed and grown — and has opened a giant new flagship restaurant in Coconut Grove.
Pura Vida Miami, which first opened in the South of Fifth neighborhood in 2012, has just opened a huge new restaurant on Grand Avenue in the Grove. And it’s twice the size of the others.
Jennifer Horev, chief brand officer of Pura Vida Miami and Horev Hospitality, calls the 34th location of the wellness-centered spot “the most stunning location yet.”
It’s “a true celebration of everything we love,” she said in a statement. “In designing Coconut Grove, we set out to create a space that feels both refined and effortless, where every detail from the finishes to the flow reflects the lifestyle that defines Pura Vida Miami and sets the tone for how the brand is evolving visually.”
The new restaurant is 6,000 square feet, as opposed to the usual 3,000 square feet, and uses natural stoneware and organic textures like travertine, Taj Mahal quartzite and Venetian plaster. The ceiling rises to 30 feet, and a banyan tree anchors the front of the store in a nod to the old Grove’s aesthetic. There are also shaded tables outside.
The flagship restaurant will offer a couple of new features. Designed by Jennifer Horev, a new market display will show off the company’s growing line of products, including protein bars, snacks, apparel, homeware and a signature scent. Did you know Pura Vida Miami had a signature scent? Neither did we.
It’s also debuting its new homemade gelato, which mimics the flavor and texture of traditional gelato, which is sweetened with trehalose, a sugar made up of two molecules of glucose. Flavors include salted pistachio, chocolate hazelnut, fior di vanilla and Welcome to Miami, which is inspired by one of the restaurant’s most popular smoothies.
The gelato will be available to go, and the counter will have slightly different hours, opening at 11 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. like the restaurant.
The menu will remain mostly the same, with the popular all-day breakfast leading the way. There are also pasture raised eggs, salads and bowls, superfood smoothies and juices and baked goods as well.
CEO and founder of Pura Vida Miami and Horev Hospitality Omer Horev called the new restaurant a milestone and said Coconut Grove was the perfect spot for the introduction of the new concept.
“We carefully chose this historic neighborhood as it is one of the fastest growing areas of the city,” he said. “This flagship will serve as the heartbeat of the brand, seamlessly blending our values of health, community and sustainability into a space where friends and neighbors can gather.”
There are 31 locations in South Florida, including Aventura, Brickell, Doral, Edgewater and South Miami, and three in New York.
