Mice — dead or alive and pooping — caused a state inspector to close a Miami restaurant last week.

While the rodents weren’t exactly welcome at Lovely’s, they didn’t act like they were company at 1622 NW 62nd St. They roamed as they pleased, as detailed in Thursday’s inspection that found 13 total violations and three High Priority violations.

They dropped their loads on a food preparation table (six poop pieces), under a kitchen grill (about 25), under storage shelves (about 30) and behind a chest freezer (about 50).

Two mice died on a glue trap in an equipment storage room and five died on glue traps under a reach-in cooler.

Also on the prep table were “can openers soiled with food debris.”

There was “grease on the ground and/or pad around grease receptacle,” possible because there was “no container installed for catching grease from hood drip tray.”

The cutting board was “grooved” so badly that it’s no longer cleanable.

A wet wiping cloth wasn’t sitting in sanitizing solution when not in use.

A dented can of tomato paste got hit with a Stop Sale.

Lovely’s reopened after passing re-inspection Friday.
