What’s your favorite neighborhood restaurant? The Miami Herald wants to hear from you
New restaurants are opening constantly in Miami-Dade County, with fancy restaurant groups from New York to California moving in and setting up shop in all of the chic neighborhoods. There’s always some new clubstaurant with a celebrity partner or a chef with a Michelin pedigree swooping in to show Miami how it’s done.
What there are fewer of in Miami are solid, reliable neighborhood spots — those local haunts that have survived because of a loyal clientele and maybe a not-so-glam locale in a nondescript strip mall. These neighborhood gems are hard to find if you don’t live in the area. They require insider knowledge from a local who frequents the place enough to know why it’s worth a shot.
The Miami Herald is looking to find some of these special neighborhood restaurants — the ones where you can get a reliably great meal with good service and you don’t have to fight tourists for a table. We asked our Miami Herald colleagues to share their own favorite neighborhood spots and what we got were little restaurants from Cutler Bay to Fort Lauderdale, Hialeah to North Beach in strip malls, marinas and cute little buildings that locals pray don’t get bought up by developers.
But now we want to hear from readers. Where is your favorite neighborhood restaurant and what makes it so special? Fill out our questionnaire below and tell us why your spot is the best in Miami. We do have a few rules, though: We aren’t looking to discover big chains and restaurants that are already on everyone’s radar. That said, tell us where you go when you want a great meal close to home.
