Since it opened in London’s Mayfair district in 2022, the restaurant Sparrow Italia has drawn celebrities like Adele and Serena Williams; Cameron Diaz and Adam Sandler; Patrick Mahomes and Novak Djokovic.

We don’t know if the upscale Italian restaurant will lure any famous faces in Miami, but Sparrow Italia has opened a new location in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood.

From the international hospitality group Noble 33 and co-founders Tosh Berman and Mikey Tanha, Sparrow Italia — named after Italy’s national bird — aims to serve modern cuisine from Italy and the Mediterranean region. The restaurant, an 8,700-square-foot space just around the corner from Wynwood Walls, will seat 232 diners.

“Miami was a natural next choice for Noble 33 as we continue to expand,” Tanha said in a statement, referencing the brand’s recent restaurant openings of Toca Madera in Houston and Meduza Mediterrania in New York.

Led by corporate chef Martin Heierling, the menu begins with a selection of chilled and raw appetizers like wagyu carpaccio with pickled mushrooms, parmigiano, pine nuts, umami aioli and shaved black truffles.

The pasta offerings include truffle cacio e pepe tagliatelle tossed in everybody’s favorite, a Pecorino wheel. All the pasta is made at the restaurant with imported Italian flour

Other specialties include bone marrow cappelletti with braised beef cheeks, roasted bone marrow, horseradish and a Barolo reduction. There’s a 34-ounce prime Fiorentina and a whole lobster Oreganata coated in panko-parmesan, garlic, parsley and lemon.

At the bar, you can order gourmet pizza by the slice, with choices like pollo alla vodka with vodka marinara, buffalo mozzarella, chicken Milanese, basil, pesto and Calabrian chili. Other choices include a dolce a piccante with arrabbiata, burrata, basil and truffle honey; cibo di coniglio with jalapeño, onion and sun-dried tomatoes and the Carnivore, with ground Japanese wagyu, pomodoro, mozzarella, wagyu salami and pepperoni.

The wine list will focus on Italian-American selections and will also highlight Italian spirits, so expect a few variations on the spritz and the Negroni.

Noble 33 isn’t finished with its foray into South Florida. The brand plans to open a coastal Mexican restaurant Casa Madera in Miami later this year, with versions of Toca Madera and Meduza Mediterrania coming to Miami sometime in 2025.
