A pioneering restaurant and bar in Wynwood that quickly became a destination for locals and tourists alike is closing for good.

Known for its shareable-plate menu, busy brunches and gorgeous cocktails, Beaker & Gray is closing after nine years.

Along with spots like Zak the Baker and Fireman Derek, the restaurant, which opened in 2015 in a former ice factory, was one of the first popular spots in the neighborhood, which has inexorably shifted from an urban artists’ haven full of tiny galleries and craft beer spots to a magnet for upscale restaurants and residential and office development.

Locals and visitors flocked to the 3,600-square-foot restaurant and its energetic New York vibe, with brick walls, concrete floors and exposed-beam ceilings, especially for the boozy Sunday brunch and late night happy hours.

Chef and co-owner Brian Nasajon, who opened Beaker & Gray with business partner and mixologist Ben Potts, said he was proud of what they created as a team.

“We’ve had an incredible run at Beaker & Gray and are extremely proud of the part we have played in Wynwood’s development into a world famous neighborhood,” he said.

“We’ve been the place for so many memories, have hosted countless events and enjoyed great community support, and we wanted to find the right way to thank and say farewell — but not goodbye — to our many friends and loyal clientele.”

The last day of service for the restaurant at 2637 North Miami Ave. will be Sunday, June 30.

Until then, Nasajon hopes old friends will swing by to enjoy one last (and affordable) toast: The restaurant is bringing back its famous $5 happy hour from 4:30-7:30 pm. Wednesday-Sunday.
