Get great views of Miami at this new ‘indulgent’ waterfront restaurant in Miami Beach
After a year’s delay, a new waterfront restaurant has opened on Miami Beach.
Pamplemousse on the Bay — the name means “grapefruit” in French — is now open on West Avenue at the Southgate Towers. (It was expected to open in 2023.)
The draw at this upscale restaurant, which features indoor and outdoor seating, is its bay views and a menu that highlights a Mediterranean-Latin fusion.
Quebec-born executive chef Isabelle Baril, whom you may have seen on “The Martha Stewart Show” or “Master Chef,” learned the butchery trade from her father, a Canadian butcher.
Her menu includes wagyu beef carpaccio and black truffle with olive spread, dry figs, arugula and wild mushrooms and a Black Angus bone-in ribeye.
But there are plenty of seafood offerings on the menu as well, including Chilean sea bass, Diver scallops, sauteed tiger prawns and black mussels with chorizo.
A decadent seafood platter with a full main lobster, four stone crab claws, six oysters, shrimp ceviche and shrimp cocktail is $185 and a $225 32-ounce Tomahawk steak, but most entrees run between $28 and $59.
There’s even a duck pasta with mascarpone and basil with Bucatini pasta.
Owner Francois Patanchon calls the experience of dining at Pamplemousse and gazing out at the water “indulgent.”
“We aim to be the go-to spot for special occasions and everyday luxury, offering a cool, vibrant atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of Miami living,” he said in a statement.
