In what can be a surprise to exactly nobody, one of Miami’s favorite Cuban bars was just named one of the best bars in the world.

The 15th annual edition of The World’s 50 Best Bars was announced in Singapore on Tuesday, and Café La Trova in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood was ranked no. 24 on the prestigious list, praised as “an unmissable destination in Miami’s lively bar scene.”

To get an idea how exclusive this honor is, understand that only five bars in the United States made the list. Three are located in New York: Double Chicken Please (no. 2); Overstory (17) and Katana Kitten (27). Jewel of the South in New Orleans was listed at no. 49).

This year has been a positive one in terms of recognition for the popular restaurant and bar, which opened in 2019.

In July, the 17th annual Spirited Awards, which honor bars, beverage professionals and products, named Café La Trova the best bar in a restaurant in the United States. In May, along with Sweet Liberty in Miami Beach, it was named among North America’s 50 Best Bars.

The retro spot, known for its live music, classic Cuban cocktails and cantineros (traditional Cuban-style bartenders) is the brainchild of James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein and Master Cantinero Julio Cabrera.

This year’s edition of The World’s Best Bars, announced in Asia for the first time, featured 28 cities from around the world. The no. 1 bar in the world was Sips Barcelona, created by Simone Caporale and Marc Alvarez in 2021.
